One of the major rarities of independent watchmaking, only 5 pieces were ever made in platinum by Laurent Ferrier for William & Son’s limited edition Galet Traveller Globe ‘Night Blue’. In London, the highly prestigious Mayfair firm of William & Son is the sole agent for legendary independent watchmaker, Laurent Ferrier.
Befitting the extremely high standards of the OAK Collection, this ultra-exclusive dual-time wristwatch is offered with full set of accessories.
Making only around 120 watches per year, Laurent Ferrier established his own manufacture in 2010. This very special UK-only edition, nicknamed the ‘Night Blue’ features an extremely beautiful midnight blue enamel dial centre with world planisphere, the United Kingdom is highlighted in red. Five examples were produced for William & Son cased in platinum and a further three were produced in pink gold.
Not only incredibly good looking, the Galet Traveller is also a remarkably sophisticated piece of the finest watchmaking. The home time zone is displayed in the aperture at 9 o’clock and the travel time is indicated by the hour and minute hands. However, the most fascinating technical feature is that the date is related to the travel time. The automatic caliber LF 230.1 movement, considered by many to be among the most beautiful ever made, has an impressive 80 hours of power reserve and features the ‘Galet micro-rotor’ and an unusual ‘natural’ escapement. The natural escapement or ‘échappement naturel’ was invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet as a high precision escapement. Rarely used in watchmaking today due to the skill required to construct it, the ‘natural’ escapement is one of the special and rare features of Laurent Ferrier’s Galet Traveller.
