Lot Essay

A variant of the bambu case retailed by Thornhill is illustrated in Charles Allix Carriage Clocks, Antique Collectors Club, 1974, p.174, plate VII/33. Walter Thornhill and Co were at 144/145 New Bond Street between 1878 and 1905.
