the arched case with triangular pediment carved with a serpent, flanked by alabaster urn finials, supported on alabaster columns, on bowed break front base with bun feet, the white enamel Roman dial within gilt-metal engine-milled bezel, steel moon hands, the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and strike on gong, first half 19th century -- 17in. (43cm.) high
