Lot Essay

"Ruscha's 'liquid' prints of the early 1970s, in which the words appeared to be written with an aqueous material, are among his most successful combinations of verbal and visual imagery. In Lisp of 1970 the insubstantial hesitancy suggested by the meaning of the word is echoed by the dissipating form of the letter."
