This large drawing is based on a lost painting by Raphael, of which a copy exists in the Musée du Louvre (inv. 644). The Christ Child can also be compared to that of Raphaël’s Madonna di Loreto in the Musée de Condé, Chantilly (inv. 68; see J. Meyer zur Capellen, Raphaël. A critical Catalogue of His Paintings, II, The Roman Religious Paintings, ca. 1508-1520, Leinen, 2000, no. 51, ill.).

D’après un tableau perdu de Raphaël, dont il existe une copie au Musée du Louvre (inv. 644). L’Enfant Jésus est également comparable à celui de la Madonna di Loreto de Raphaël conservé du musée de Condé de Chantilly (inv. 68 ; voir J. Meyer zur Capellen, Raphaël. A critical Catalogue of His Paintings, II, The Roman Religious Paintings, ca. 1508-1520, Leinen, 2000, n° 51, ill.).
