Built in 1612 to replace a 15th-century church, the Roman basilica depicted here is dedicated to Saints Ambrose of Milan and Charles Borromeo, both bishops from Milan. The church was built after a design by Onorio Longhi and completed by his son Martino Longhi the Younger.

Lot Essay

Construite en 1612 à la place d’une église du XV^e siècle à Rome, cette basilique est vouée à saint Ambroise de Milan et saint Charles Borromée, deux évêques milanais. L’église fut construite selon un projet d’Onorio Longhi et achevée par son fils Martino Longhi le Jeune.
