A CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The cover of the box is reverse-decorated with a hexafoil medallion of formal lotus meanders and a central shou medallion, enclosed by a band of stylized waves set with small flowerheads and a band of ruyi heads above a scrolling lotus border. The lotus border is repeated on the upper portion of the box above a stylized chrysanthemum petal band. The base is inscribed with an apocryphal Jiajing mark.
