Lot Essay

These doorstops are identical in design to three pairs sold recently at Christie's in Paris: one pair was formerly in an anonymous Parisian collection "A Parisian pied-à-terre curated by Hubert de Givenchy", sold 14 September 2021, lot 4; and two pairs were in the collection of Hubert de Givenchy, sold 15-17 June 2022, lots 109 & 431.

Hubert de Givenchy had originally acquired his first pair of doorstops of this model from the present owner of this pair, and subsequently had them copied.
