A ravishingly beautiful example of Patek Philippe’s enamelled and jewelled lady’s pendant/brooch timepieces, the present watch, made in 1898, is the embodiment of the European Art Nouveau style at the turn of the 20th century.
The case is wonderfully decorated with translucent red, green and yellow enamel as a background to the central Sphinx in gold relief and set with rose-cut diamonds. The accompanying detachable gold and rose-cut diamond brooch is another tour-de-force of Art Nouveau goldwork, in the form of a phoenix rising against an exquisitely enamelled sun.
Highly desirable and as eminently wearable today as it was over 120 years ago, this lovely horological work of art would be an excellent addition to any collection.
