Entitled “The Triumph of Neptune” and fully confirmed by the Extract from the Archives, we are greatly honoured to present this breathtakingly beautiful work of art. Made in 1976, it is an outstanding vintage masterpiece of Patek Philippe’s rare handicrafts division. This watch is particularly remarkable as one of a very small number of Patek Philippe artisan pocket watches that are decorated on both sides of the case with a design planned and executed as a single entity. The hand-engraving engraving is incredibly fine and artistic with a scene depicting Neptune driving his chariot and horses commanding the seas, an image that is famous throughout art history and is even to be seen in mosaics from classical antiquity. This superb and dramatic scene would have taken over 100 hours to create without any room for error, epitomizing the excellence of Patek Philippe’s artisan craftsmen.
