Lot Essay

Bronze vessels bearing Kangxi marks appear to be extremely rare and very few examples have been published. See a gilt-splashed bronze 'elephant' censer and cover with a Kangxi cast four-character mark and of the period, sold in Christie's Hong Kong, 2 December 2015, lot 3161. Another bronze tripod censer, also bearing a six-character Kangxi mark, can be found in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (museum number: M.1171:1-1926).
