Lot Essay

This model of turquoise-glazed porcelain is very rare. There are only two known similar turquoise-glazed boxes and covers. The pair is mounted with important gilt-bronze garniture in the collections of Musée du Louvre, OA 5445. This pair comes from the collection of famous French amateur and collector Jean de Jullienne (1686-1766). In his sale in 1767 this pair of boxes sold for a record price of 3.600 livres, showing how rare and important the Kangxi monochromes were in the second half the 18th century.

We would like to share Mr. Nicolas Fournery for sharing the information above.
