A similar still life with sea shells on a simple stone table was recently sold at auction (Christie’s, New York, 27 January 2022, lot 98). Among the exotic shells included in this composition can be recognized a Mitra Mitra, a Conus Textile and a large Charonia tritonis or Triton’s Trumpet.
