Lot Essay

The inscription accompanying the lithograph describes Jenin as, 'A town situated at the mouth of a valley, opening into the great plain of Esdraelon. It is the chief place of the district, embracing the plain and is the residence of the Governor of the district... The town lies in the midst of plantations of fruit trees, surrounded by fences of the prickly pear.'
