Lot Essay

The Richard Mille RM010 is an immediately recognizable classic of the brand with its tonneau-shaped case and skeletonized movement it is much sought after by Richard Mille enthusiasts. After a year of research to develop the case, the RM010 was launched as the skeletonized version of the famous RM005, the first automatic movement to feature the variable geometry rotor, it is both impressive and very attractive. The variable geometry rotor is an ingenious self-winding mechanism which gives the wearer the option of adapting the winding to their activity level, such as sports or leisure. By adjusting the six-positional setting of the rib, the rotor’s inertia is modified to either speed up the winding process in the case of minimal arm and hand movements, or slow it down during high activity sports, thus adapting to the owner’s individual lifestyle. The present 18K white gold version offers a cool silvery overall aesthetic, the brushed case with polished highlights takes advantage of the play of light and shadow across its surface. Through the glazed display back the technically advanced caliber RM 005-S with 55-hour power reserve is revealed, the bottom plate and bridges are angled and polished by hand before being sandblasted and PVD treated. Completed with a rubber strap and buckle, it is perfect for use in all environments, the RM010 is always an impressive timepiece for any occasion.
