A rare Steiff 'Scotty' dog
with head movement, grey and black mohair, black bushy eyebrows and beard, brown and black glass eyes, brown stitched nose and mouth, pink felt inner ears, original collar, tail operating head movement, swing tag, button in ear with label intact and retailer's swing tag --4½in. (11.5cm.) long, circa 1931

Lot Essay

This example was used as a retailer's sample by Mr. George D. Prince, representative for Greiner & Co., the Steiff agent in London. After the Nazis rise to power he joined the British firm of Roberts Bros. of Gloucester, manufacturers of toys, games and childrens furniture.
