The motif of bats and clouds expresses a wish for "boundless happiness reaching the heavens." The pairing of red bats with blue clouds signifies vast blessings (hongfu qitian). The clouds also form a pun, as the word "cloud" (yun) is homophonous with "luck." Often depicted as lingzhi (longevity fungus), these auspicious clouds resemble the shape of the ruyi scepter, symbolizing fulfilled desires.
