Lot Essay

The present lot exemplifies a popular serpent bracelet design of the mid-19th century. Designed to coil around the wrist, these bracelets featured hinged segments, often enameled in rich colors. This particular example is set with exceptionally large diamonds, which makes it all the more unusual.
