Lot Essay

The Odysseus was A. Lange & Söhne’s first foray into the highly popular luxury steel sports watch segment. Launched in 2019, it was the brand's first new product family since the launch of the Zeitwerk in 2009. Shortly after the inaugural stainless steel model on bracelet, a year later in 2020, A. Lange & Söhne’ announced the production of Odysseus watches in precious metal on rubber straps, such as the present reference 363.068.

Offered with the full set of accessories, the present timepiece features a heavy 18k white gold case and silvered grey dial with fluting at the edge. For water resistance, the watch has a screw-down crown. The Odysseus has a day and outsized date indication tastefully placed at 3 and 9 o'clock for symmetry. Powering the watch is the Datomatic movement that was built ground-up with a 4 Hz escapement, skeletonized grey rotor, and hand-engraved balance bridge, all a first for the brand.
