Lot Essay

The rise of Japanese fine watchmaking is no secret to the serious collectors, from Grand Seiko gaining credible market share and recognition, to the likes of Hajime Asaoka operating as an independent watchmaker from his apartment in Tokyo.

Originally launched in 2022 as a limited edition of 30 examples in collaboration with Japanese pottery maker Imari Nabeshima, this exceptional Credor reference GCBY999 features a meticulously crafted porcelain dial with a hand painted 'moonlight waves' motif.

Hataman Touen is located in the village of Okochi, Saga Prefecture, which is famous for its Imari porcelain. The highly attractive dial is housed in a steel case measuring 38 mm. The Hataman company name is engraved on the display case back that shows the thin 6890 manual winding calibre.
