Worn by Michael Kelly in the third and fourth season of the Jack Ryan TV series, this Vortic pocket watch conversion was originally a Master Navigator pocket watch, and truly a piece of American history. The original antique pocket watch movement was manufactured for the US Army Air Corps by the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and used by navigators aboard B17s and other bomber aircraft during World War II.
History is once again being made as Vortic Watch Company in Fort Collins, Colorado has brought this incredible pocket watch back to life, now as a wristwatch. Almost 80 years after its original use, the master watchmakers at Vortic have painstakingly rebuilt the pocket watch movement and then precision-machined the wristwatch case from the highest grade US steel and titanium.
It seems fitting that this watch was worn by Kelly, one of Hollywood’s leading actors who played as a CIA Special Agent in the series Jack Ryan. The watch was featured in dozens of action-packed scenes, even leaving marks on the watch case and sweat stains on the strap. Freshly serviced by Vortic’s watchmakers, the watch comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and is an excellent, historical timekeeper built to endure the ages.
The Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation would like to thank Vortic Watch Company founders RT Custer and Tyler Wolfe for their generous donation.
