Percy Grainger was an Australian-born composer, best known for his piano arrangement of the folk-dance ‘Country Gardens’. The present sketch appears to relate to a portrait on silk of Grainger, by Armfield now held in the Britten-Pears Collection (ref. 5-9700306).
