Lot Essay

Duncan Grant made multiple visits to Venice throughout the first half of the twentieth century, including when representing Britain at the Biennales of 1926 and 1932. The current work probably dates to his visits between 1948 and 1957.

We are grateful to Richard Shone for his assistance in cataloguing this lot.
