le bol ovale profond appliqué sur le fond d'un motif dit en queue de rat, le manche de section circulaire évasé et terminé par une prise balustre, gravé sous le bol des initiales R/WG et sur le manche d'un cimier, poinçons sur le bol: ville, titre, lettre-date et maîre-orfèvre; sur le manche: ville et maître-orfèvre

Le cimier est celui des Rawson, Yorkshire, pour John Rawson (1677-1719) de Bolton et Catherine Lister de Ripon (décédée en 1750) qu’il épouse en 1708.
Après sa mort en 1719, sa veuve Catherine et leur fils Christopher (1712-1780) déménagent à Halifax, établissant ainsi la famille Rawson à Halifax qui devient au début du XIXe siècle une famille de grand banquiers.

with tapering handle and ball finial, the bowl with applied rat-tail, engraved with initials R/WG on the bowl and with crest on handle, fully marked
The crest is that of the Rawson family from Yorkshire, for John Rawson (1677-1719) of Bolton and Catherine Lister of Ripon (died in 1750), whom he married in 1708. After his death in 1719, his widow Catherine and their son Christopher (1712-1780) moved to Halifax, thus establishing the Rawson family in Halifax, which, at the beginning of the 19th century, became a family of prominent bankers.
