Lot Essay

The present work belongs to a series of illustrations entitled Home Life in America made for The United States Brewers Foundation campaign, 'Beer Belongs.' The advertisements were published in numerous magazines, including Life, Collier's and Woman's Home Companion. The present illustration ran alongside the copy: "Traditionally, beer's tangy distinctive flavor blends with quiet, tasteful surroundings...with good books, good conversation, gracious living. A product of America's finest crops...beer is brewed for pleasant companionship and true relaxation."
