Lot Essay

Coming directly from the estate of Keith Haring’s mother, this one-of-a-kind Tiffany box is a token of Keith’s love and enduring relationship with his family. Embellished by hand with a silver paint pen, Keith Haring adorned this Tiffany box with his most recognizable motifs—the crawling baby, the barking dog, and the radiant heart. For Haring, the heart represents an optimistic belief and humanity, and love in its purest form. The lid is inscribed with a touching message from Keith to his parents: “For 25 Years of Devoted Service.” This gift box from Keith Haring to his parents remained in the Haring family home in Kutztown, Pennsylvania for over 40 years, until Joan P. Haring’s passing in November 2024. It is an iconic and spontaneous collaboration between one of the most popular artists and one of the most iconic brands of the 20th century.
