Lot Essay

The present timepiece, designated as reference 5036/1R-001, is a deluxe model featuring a solid 18k pink gold case and bracelet, which add impressive weight and robustness to the watch. The silvered dial showcases applied and luminous 18k pink gold Roman numerals that complement the elegant leaf hands. The case measures a refined 37 millimeters in diameter with an impressive thickness of under 13 millimeters, making the watch suitable for a wide range of wrist sizes.

Reference 5036
Following the widespread success of the world's first self-winding annual calendar wristwatch in 1996, the reference 5035, Patek Philippe quickly released the successor 5036, such as in the present lot at the turn of the century in 1999. In the updated model, the 24-hours subsidiary register was now replaced with a moon phases indicator, and a power reserve gage was added at 12 o’clock.
