Lot Essay

This charming composition, incorporating several of Joan Miró's most iconic and immediately recognisable motifs, was an April Fool's gift from the artist to the present owner; the son of a close friend, as a child he 'traded' his own artwork with that of Miró's - thus, the warmth of the dedication on the reverse of the sheet not only speaks to their close friendship, but also to the artist's delightful sense of play.
