Long-produced and beloved by vintage watch collectors, Vacheron Constantin's reference 4072 is perhaps one of the most iconic and popular vintage models from the historic Maison for good reason. The watch has well-balanced case proportions, a wonderfully brushed and high-polished case, and a beautiful two-register display. Impressively manufactured for over three decades beginning in 1938 up until the early 1970s, some examples have oval-shape chronograph buttons rather than rectangular buttons. It also features flat and beveled bezels.

Given the purity of their design, absolute 1940s aesthetics, and supremely well-finished movements, Vacheron Constantin's chronographs from the first half of the past century can be considered among the most attractive and well-constructed chronographs of the time. Enhancing its appeal and collectability, the dial of the present watch is a beautiful champagne color with blued register hands and central chronograph hands for contrast.
