Lot Essay

The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712G-001, the white-gold variant introduced as part of the Nautilus’ 30th-anniversary lineup in 2006, offers a more refined, elegant interpretation of the iconic asymmetrical moon phase, power-reserve, and date layout, distinguished by its slate-gray dial and leather strap. The 5712 family debuted that same year in three metals: stainless steel 5712/1A-001 with its signature blue-gradient dial, rose gold 5712R-001 paired with a warm brown-gray dial, and the white-gold 5712G-001. Subsequent expansions included the two-tone 5712GR-001 (white and rose gold) appearing around 2012, as well as the piece unique titanium 5712T-001 created exclusively for the Only Watch 2007 charity auction. Together, these releases form a concise yet fascinating timeline showing how Patek Philippe used metal and dial variations to express different personalities within one of the Nautilus line’s most poetic references.
