A PAIR OF RUSSIAN PORCELAIN ICE PAILS FROM THE DOWRY SERVICE FOR GRAND DUCHESS MARIA PAVLOVNA
BY THE IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY, ST. PETERSBURG, PERIOD OF PAUL I (1796-1801)
Each of cylindrical form, each side centering an oval cartouche painted with the views of the Tivoli Gardens, the Steps of Mount Etna, Salaro Bridge and the Temple at Segeste, the upper border with a strapwork band of roses on red ground alternating with grisaille rosettes, with gilt rim and female mask handles, inscribed in French under base with descriptions of the scenes, both marked under base with blue underglaze factory marks
