The palace and quaysides on the left-hand side of the scene of the underside is derived from Melchior Küsel’s engraving Arriva zu Neapoli alla Piazza di Spagna after Johann Wilhelm Baur from Iconographia, published in 1682. Compare the very similarly molded example in the Helmet Josph collection, sold Bonhams, London, 5 July 2011, lot 20.
