Lot Essay

The style of this lively composition recalls drawings of the Cremonese school and, in particular, for the typology of the figures, the works of Giulio Campi. Alternative attributions to Altobello Melone (circa 1491-1543) and Giovanni Antonio de’ Sacchis, il Pordenone (circa 1484-1539) have been suggested.

The drawing bears the mounter's dry stamp ARD (L. 172) on the mount.
