signed and numbered 'max ernst 8⁄9' (on top of the base) and stamped with the foundry mark 'Susse Fondeur Paris' (at the back of the base)
bronze with dark brown patina
height: 22 ½ in. (57 cm.)
width: 37 in. (94 cm.)
Conceived in 1955-1956 and cast in bronze in 1957, by Susse Fondeur, Paris in a numbered edition of 9 plus 4 hors commerce proofs

Other casts of this work include those in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art; the Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Vienna; the Ulla and Heiner Pietzsch Collection, Berlin, and in the Max Ernst Museum, Brühl as a permanent loan of the Kreissparkasse Köln.

The plaster for the edition is in the Sprengel Museum, Hannover.
