The theme of the Baptism of Christ is probably the one that features most prominently in Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo's drawings; no fewer than thirteen versions belonged to the Earl of Beauchamp (sold at Christie's London, 15 June 1965, lots 6 to 18). Several have come up for sale more recently, see Christie's, London, 10 July 2014, lot 127 for a version with a very similar composition, but reversed. Some examples are now held in public collections: at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford (WA1937.220; K.T. Parker, Catalogue of the Collection of Drawings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 1956, II, no. 1089) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, which has six (J. Byam Shaw, G. Knox, Italian Eighteenth-Century Drawings in the Robert Lehman Collection, New York, 1987, nos. 114-119) . All these drawings are linked to a single existing painting on this subject, kept at the Museo Stibbert in Florence (A. Mariuz, Giandomenico Tiepolo, Venice, 1971, p. 119, pl. 305).

Le thème du Baptême du Christ est probablement celui qui compte le plus de dessins chez Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo ; pas de moins treize versions appartenaient au Duc de Beauchamp (Christie's, Londres, 15 juin 1965, lots 6 à 18). Plusieurs sont repassés en vente plus récemment, voir Christies, Londres, 10 juillet 2014, lot 127 pour une version de composition très proche, en sens inverse. Certains exemples sont aujourd’hui conservés dans des collections publiques : à l'Ashmolean Museum d'Oxford (WA1937.220 ; K.T. Parker, Catalogue of the Collection of Drawings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 1956, II, n° 1089) au Metropolitan Museum of Art de New York, qui en possède six (J. Byam Shaw, G.
