According to an inscription on the reverse of the drawing in the hand of the art historian Antonio Morassi, this architectural capriccio was attributed to Giovanni Battista Piranesi, while the collector Charles Gasc, to whom the sheet once belonged, assigned it to Francesco Guardi.
