Lot Essay

Mishima Pass run through the regions of Lake Yamanaka and Gotemba before reaching Mishima. In this panoramic view of Mount Fuji from the pass near the border of Kai and Suruga, the dynamic composition features a towering tree in the foreground, juxtaposed against the graceful volcano. Three travelers attempting to measure the tree trunk add a touch of humor to the scene, underscoring the contrast between the vastness of nature and the diminutive scale of human figures.
