The recipient “Zhuoran” refers to Mr Kong Chung, a Hong Kong collector known for his extensive collection of Ding Yanyong works, which have been offered in previous Christie’s auctions. This painting was a gift from Ding Yanyong to Kong. The current owner acquired it in 2004 and has kept it in his collection ever since.
