The pair of jars is remarkable for its luminous celadon glaze and elegant form. A celadon-glazed vase of this rare form, with a Yongzheng reign mark and of the period, was included in the Min Chiu Society Exhibition of Monochrome Ceramics of Ming and Ch’ing Dynasties, Hong Kong, 1977, cat. no. 69; a similar pair of same height is illustrated in Regina Krahl, Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, vol. II, London, 1994, no. 858; and one with a cylindrical body from the T.Y. Chao Collection, included in Ch’ing Porcelain from the Wah Kwong Collection, Hong Kong, 1973, no. 13, was sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, 19 May 1987, lot 284.
