Lot Essay

This magnificent bronze miniature figurine is a quintessential example of Pala period artistic tradition. Stylistically, this figurine closely mirrors a related Pala bronze sold at Sotheby's, Paris, 10 June 2015, lot 168 sharing an identical base with a lower beaded edge, double rings of flattened lotus petals, an outstretched leg resting directly on a vase, and characteristic upward-swaying sashes flanking the shoulders.
