FRENCH ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX, 19TH CENTURY, WITH MARKS RESEMBLING THOSE OF JEAN FORMEY, PARIS, 1772
Oval , the lid, sides and base chased with stripes enamelled in opaque white, blue and translucent green entwined with laurel garlands, the white bands decorated with flowerheads, the rims with laurel bands, fully marked in cover, base and side with Paris prestige marks of Julien Alaterre including charge, date-letter (J) and maker's mark; on flange with décharge and later French control marks; the flange engraved: Formey A Paris
