Lot Essay

Marion Adnams is recognised as one of the most distinctive voices in British Surrealism, creating mysterious compositions in which familiar objects are transformed into dream-like symbols. This delicate pencil drawing is a study for Three Stones (1968), one of Adnams' most celebrated late compositions, now in the collection of Nottingham Castle.
