Lot Essay

The knot count measures approximately 7V x 6H per cm. sq.

The present carpet is woven with the incredibly soft kurk wool and colouring often associated with the Kashani master weaver Mohammad Dabir al-Sanayeh. Dabir is said to have been a pupil of the master weaver Hajji Mullah Muhammad Hassan Mohtasham from whom he learnt to master the finer skills of weaving. He stepped away from the more traditional patterns however and started to experiment with greater freedom of expression, using bold arabesques and overall designs.
