The Langematik Perpetual is one of the most enduring and important complicated wristwatches in A. Lange & Söhne's modern history. Released in 2019 and available exclusively through the manufacture's boutiques, the present limited-edition example is number 23 of only 100 pieces. Cased in Lange's proprietary 18k Honeygold and fitted with a solid silver dial, it is furthermore offered in exceptional, virtually like-new condition.
First introduced in 2001, the Langematik Perpetual was the first self-winding wristwatch to combine a perpetual calendar with Lange's signature oversized date display. Its calendar indications and moon phase can be adjusted individually or advanced collectively through pushers integrated into the caseband. Once correctly set and kept running, the perpetual calendar automatically accounts for the varying lengths of the months and leap years, requiring no correction until the secular year 2100. The moon-phase display is similarly precise, deviating from the actual lunar cycle by only one day after 122.6 years of uninterrupted operation.
The model also incorporates A. Lange & Söhne's patented zero-reset mechanism, designed to facilitate precise time setting. When the crown is pulled, the movement stops and the seconds hand instantly returns to zero allowing the watch to be synchronised precisely with a reference time signal.
Honeygold
Introduced by A. Lange & Söhne in 2010, Honeygold is the manufacture's proprietary gold alloy, distinguished by its warm, subtle hue reminiscent of honey. Developed not only for its distinctive appearance but also for its increased hardness compared with conventional gold alloys, the material evokes the warm tones of historic Lange pocket watch cases. Reserved for particularly special and limited-production creations, Honeygold has become one of the manufacture's most recognisable and coveted modern materials, further enhancing the exclusivity of the present Langematik Perpetual.
