F.P. Journe's Vagabondage
The origins of F.P. Journe’s Vagabondage can be traced to 1997 and the unique ‘Carpe Diem’, an unconventional wristwatch combining wandering hours with a centrally exposed balance. The concept resurfaced in 2003, when Journe created three unique tortue-shaped watches for Antiquorum’s 30th Anniversary charity auction benefiting the ICM Foundation. Their success ultimately gave rise to one of the manufacture’s most distinctive collections.
The Vagabondage I introduced the wandering jumping-hour display, followed in 2010 by the Vagabondage II, which incorporated digital jumping hours and minutes. The trilogy culminated in 2017 with the technically remarkable Vagabondage III, the first wristwatch to feature jumping digital seconds. Owners of the earlier models were given priority to acquire subsequent watches bearing the same individual number, allowing a select group of collectors to assemble complete numbered sets.
In 2022, the introduction of the Vagabondage I Gold enabled collectors to complete a corresponding trilogy in pink gold. Together, the Vagabondage watches form one of F.P. Journe’s most unconventional and collectible series, united by their distinctive tortue-shaped cases and innovative interpretations of digital and wandering time displays.
