MINIONS STAINLESS STEEL MODEL, NO. 28⁄38, CIRCA 2021

Rather than adhering to the traditional restraint of classical watchmaking, Konstantin Chaykin has built his reputation on transforming mechanical wristwatches into kinetic works of pop art. His celebrated Wristmons collection reimagines the dial as a constantly changing animated face, combining technical ingenuity with humour and personality. The present Minions edition perfectly embodies this philosophy, with an expressive character whose facial expression subtly changes throughout the day, ensuring that no two moments ever appear quite the same.

Created exclusively for this model, the display uses two rotating discs to form the Minion's eyes, indicating the hours and minutes, while the moon-phase indication serves as the character's animated smile. Powering the watch is the proven self-winding ETA 2892-A2, enhanced by an in-house module developed by Konstantin Chaykin. Comprising 61 additional components, the module transforms the conventional movement into one of the most original displays in contemporary independent watchmaking. A second crown incorporating a pusher allows convenient adjustment of the moon-phase indication.

Launched during Dubai Watch Week in November 2021, the present watch belongs to the first series, produced in a limited edition of only 38 examples in stainless steel. A second iteration, cased in titanium, followed in March 2023.
