Lot Essay
At the end of 2021, Vacheron Constantin unveiled two highly exclusive titanium Overseas models: the Overseas Chronograph 'Everest' and the Overseas Dual Time 'Everest', such as the present lot. The watches were directly inspired by the unique titanium and tantalum Overseas prototype worn by renowned mountaineer, photographer and Vacheron Constantin ambassador Cory Richards during his expedition to Mount Everest. The Dual Time was conceived as a faithful production interpretation of Richards' prototype. Limited to only 150 examples of each model, the 'Everest' editions were reserved for select Vacheron Constantin clients and have become among the most desirable contemporary Overseas watches.
The present Overseas Dual Time 'Everest' reference 7910V/000T-B922 features a 41 mm. titanium case complemented by the signature Overseas bezel with a blackened finish. Its striking blue-grey grained dial lends the watch a distinctly rugged character, evocative of the rocky landscapes and extreme conditions that inspired its creation. Vivid orange accents on the second-time-zone and day/night indicator hands provide a striking contrast while reinforcing the model's adventurous aesthetic.
Designed with travel in mind, the Dual Time allows the local hour hand to be adjusted independently in one-hour increments, while the date can be quickly corrected through the screw-down pusher at 4 o'clock. Both the case and movement bear the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, while the sapphire crystal caseback reveals the beautifully finished automatic movement within. Particularly striking is the 22k pink gold oscillating weight, specially decorated with an engraving based on a photograph of Mount Everest taken by Cory Richards himself.
