In August 2019, the Daymatic became the eighth instalment in A. Lange & Söhne's year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Lange 1. Restricted to just 25 examples, the commemorative version is housed in a 39.5 mm white gold case and features the silver-and-blue colour scheme created specifically for the anniversary collection. Its argenté-coloured solid silver dial is complemented by deep blue printing, blue outsize-date numerals and blued steel hands, lending the familiar Daymatic display a particularly refined appearance.
This distinction is accompanied by a subtle change in functionality. In place of the traditional power-reserve indication, the Daymatic incorporates a retrograde day-of-the-week display, complementing the signature outsize date. Even the inscription between 5 and 6 o'clock reflects its different mechanical character: the familiar 'Doppelfederhaus', referring to the twin mainspring barrels of the hand-wound Lange 1, gives way to 'Wochentag-Automatik', identifying the watch's automatic winding and weekday indication.
The anniversary treatment continues on the movement side. Through the sapphire crystal caseback, the automatic calibre and its traditional Saxon finishing are revealed, while the hand-engraved intermediate-wheel cock receives distinctive blue-filled decoration. It also carries the recurring emblem created for the anniversary series: a relief depiction of Lange's celebrated outsize date displaying '25'.
