The Kollokium Projekt 01 for ELA marks the first time that the three-man project has created a unique piece, and it couldn’t be for a better cause. With Projekt 01’s unmistakable dial consisting of an incredible 488 hand-applied elements, the unique piece for ELA marks the first time that no luminescent material has been used on the dial. Instead, a sculptural contrast of black pins against a metallic dial matching the case interacts with light in a completely different way for Projekt 01. A hot pink seconds hand, a further reference to ELA, and an orange strap provide a playfully vibrant touch.
The unique Projekt 01 for ELA also marks the first time that Kollokium has worked with an external designer. For the caseback, Kollokium commissioned Barth Nussbaumer’s daughter, Ivy, to create a unique artwork, which was then laser-engraved onto the caseback.
Kollokium is an independent, design-driven watchmaking platform founded in 2020 by industry veterans Manuel Emch, Barth Nussbaumer, and Amr Sindi. Rejecting traditional watchmaking heritage, the brand follows a philosophy it calls 'brutalist artisanship' or 'neubrutalist horology', blending industrial aesthetics, post-war brutalism, and sci-fi retro-futurism.
Rather than focusing on custom mechanical movements, the creators explicitly state that they are designers who use unbranded, reliable La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movements, allowing them to focus entirely on hyper-detailed, avant-garde dial and case architecture.
