Lot Essay

This striking unique timepiece features a 41mm microblasted Grade 5 titanium case and an entirely handcrafted midnight-blue 'Light of Hope' dial, created especially for this auction in support of ELA. The word 'Hope' has been handwritten on the dial by Christophe Musy, co-founder and CEO of Mauron Musy. Almost invisible in daylight, the word is revealed as the Super-LumiNova illuminates in low light, offering a simple yet powerful metaphor: even when hope cannot be seen, it is always there. The caseback is engraved 'PIÈCE UNIQUE'.

The watch is powered by the Manufacture Calibre MM02, an automatic micro-rotor movement developed by Mauron Musy and visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. The 41 mm Grade 5 titanium case incorporates the brand’s patented nO-Ring® technology, an innovative approach to water resistance that eliminates conventional gaskets through the use of precisely machined components and controlled compression.

Christophe Musy describes the philosophy behind the creation: 'Because hope drives research forward. Hope gives strength. Hope inspires action. And hope means believing that a better future is possible'.

Created with a purpose that extends beyond watchmaking, this singular timepiece was conceived specifically to support ELA and research into leukodystrophies.

Mauron Musy
Mauron Musy occupies a distinctive position within contemporary Swiss independent watchmaking. Founded in 2013 by Eric Mauron and Christophe Musy, the company was born from a shared desire to challenge established conventions and explore new possibilities in mechanical watchmaking.

The brand develops its own movements and produces the majority of its components in-house, while sourcing selected external components from suppliers located within a 60 km radius of its atelier. This approach underpins its use of the designation “Swiss Crafted”, reflecting its emphasis on local production and craftsmanship.

The company’s innovative approach led to the development of its patented nO-Ring® technology, a novel system of mechanical water resistance without conventional gaskets. Mauron Musy presented the technology at Baselworld in 2015, followed by the introduction of its first collection in 2016. Since then, the manufacture has continued to develop exclusive movements and entirely Swiss-designed and crafted timepieces, while also accepting private commissions for unique creations.

At the heart of Mauron Musy’s philosophy lies a constant dialogue between engineering and instinct, precision and creativity, and technical mastery and freedom of expression.

Keep exploring. Keep creating. Keep asking why.
